2011 School Election info - Tues May 3rdSchool elections are coming up this Tues. May 3rd around the state. Many include levies to fund school infrastructure and programs (which is even more critical when state and federal investments in schools are uncertain) and some include races for trustees/school board members who make important decisions about curriculum, funding priorities, facilities etc. for schools. See below for info about elections in each the MWV chapter communities and don’t forget to vote! Please note if you have a mail ballot it must be received by 8pm this Tuesday. Bitterroot Valley: Voters will select school trustees and decide on two levies, in elections that span most of the county. See links below for more info.
Bozeman: Three positions for the Board of Trustees are uncontested, so the only items on the ballot will be the elementary and high school general levies. The poll will be the Willson School gym for all Elementary District #7 voters, and is open 12 -8 p.m on Tues. May 3rd. Ballots for voters on the permanent absentee list were mailed mid-April and must be returned mail or in person, to the Bozeman School District Business Office, 404 West Main St., 59771, during regular weekday business hours (8 a.m. to 5 p.m.).
Great Falls: There is a contested race for four positions on the Great Falls Public Schools Board, as eight people have filed. Great Falls will also be voting on a proposed school levy. This is a mail ballot election, and if you are a registered voter you should have already received your ballot. There is no late registration for this election, but if you are registered and didn’t receive your ballot, please call 454-6804. Ballots must be received by 8 p.m., Tues. May 3. You can drop ballots at the Elections office in the Courthouse Annex (325 2nd Ave. North Rm. 100) anytime during business hours or bring them to the Expo Park on Election Day until 8pm.
Missoula: MCPS has four levies (two elementary and two high school) on the ballot. There are three candidates for two K-12 seats. Two other positions are uncontested. This is a mail ballot election, and if you are a registered voter you should have received your ballot. There is no late registration for this election, but if you are registered and didn’t receive your ballot, please call 258-4751 to inquire about a replacement. Ballots must be received by 8 p.m., Tues. May 3. Drop boxes will be available at schools on Election Day.
