mwV 2010 VoTer guide

Where do your candidates stand? Find out! When women vote, women count, get the info to be counted here!

The 2010 Montana Women Vote Guide highlights Montana's lone US House race as well as State Legislative races. For the first time we have also included questionnaires from the Montana Supreme Court Justice Candidates, only available online.

MWV Voter Guide

Optional Written Responses: Candidates were invited to give a written response in addition to supporting or opposing each question. In the voter guide, answers that also include a written response are indicated with an asterisk and those responses are available here. MWV does not edit responses but will indicated when the response has exceeded the allowed word limit.

Ballot Initiatives: MWV highlights two ballot initiatives in the voter guide and those are also outlined below. However, for a comprehensive overview of all initiatives that will be on the ballot, check out Secretary of State's Ballot Issues Guide.

I-164: Montana Women Vote supports this initiative.

CI-105: Montana Women Vote opposes this initiative.

  • I-105 would change the Montana constitution to ban any new taxes on the selling or transfer to real estate.
  • Montana has never had a real estate transfer tax and none are currently being proposed.
  • CI-105 would tie the hands of future state and local lawmakers from proposing any new tax on the selling or transfer of real estate.
  • Many states and localities have real estate transfer taxes that are used to fund open-spaces and affordable housing.
  • Find our more info about CI-105 here.

DON'T KNOW YOUR LEGISLATIVE DISTRICT? THIS DISCTRICT MAP WILL HELP.

Still need more info? If your candidate didn't fill out the MWV questionnaire, your Legislative race wasn't included in our guide this year, or you just have more questions, here are a few places to find more info:

Ask the candidate: Most candidates will take questions from their constituents regarding their stances on issues. Contact your Legislative and non-Legislative candidates. Newspaper: Most papers will ask all local candidates a series of questions and then publish them before the election. This info is often found in the section of the paper dedicated to elections.
