Black and Indigenous Issues in Montana

This panel on issues impacting Black and indigenous folks in Montana will focus on policy change and legislation that folks are working on in Montana. With the knowledge that the settler-colonial project in Montana requires both a logic of indigenous elimination and an erasure of the past flourishing communities of Black Montanans, we are hoping through this conversation we can expand the idea of racial justice policy work in Montana to both include and center black Montanans in addition to indigenous folks. This panel will last 1.5 hours and provide a forum for Black and Indigenous issues to be elevated and connected.

Presenters: (Moderator) Ivan MacDonald, Montana Racial Equity Project; Judith Heilman, Montana Racial Equity Project Executive Director; Daliyah Killsback, Western Native Voice Deputy Political Director; Preston Parish, Montana Budget and Policy Center State Tribal Policy Analyst
